Last February 21, the international day dedicated to them was celebrated.
Demonstrations were organized here and there to present the importance of these languages. But in young environments, they struggle to be controlled.
One of the difficulties children face in learning native languages is the family context in which they grow up. For those from families where the parents come from two different ethnicities, it becomes difficult to learn one of the two languages and almost impossible to express oneself in both.
Also, the wind of modernity is also blowing on the current generation. They believe that expressing themselves in their mother tongue is obsolete, hence the adoption of Western languages with the consequence of abandoning our cultures. Moreover, the weight of foreign languages weighs on the easy learning of mother tongues. In many cases here or elsewhere, these languages gradually take over the mother tongue to the point of reaching situations where it is less spoken. These obstacles bring with it the disappearance of African culture.
